Handloom – A Traditional Weaving Craft

Weaving is a traditional skill and an age old practice; it is a craft with intricate designs, specific colors, and motifs that identifies the ethnic community. Women (in some tribes it is a requisite that young women learn waving at a very early age) in the rural Meghalaya weave their costumes for occasions for their family members.

Most of these hand woven fabrics are not available in the market and the production for marketing is on a minimal scale; however, an initiative to promote this stunning craft, unrevealed to the world at large, into large scale production has overcome challenges! It is phenomenal that the numbers now are rolling out big time!

More than 1000 weavers are involved in the large scale hand woven fabric production; the entire activity, traditional handloom weaving on a semi mechanized handloom fitted with CATD (Computer Assisted Textile Designing) software, forms a livelihood mission!

Our handloom products are woven out of Muga, Eri, and Mulberry silks (unlike cotton, silk orders require two weeks to weave); moreover, hand woven cotton fabric is a prime product in our catalogue.

A variety of motifs and designs are wonderfully woven and the network of weavers is consistent that can deliver big size orders with preferred features. Every order, you place, supports an individual weaver or a weaving society.

Silk or cotton, place your orders with us! We will supply the finest traditional fabric and clothing; you’ll love it and treasure it!
